I used to do the radio taiso on one of the Japanese companies I worked at in the past. The exercise was part of the company policy and was being performed before the start of work. Most of my previous colleagues hate it but I love doing it each and every morning. Radio Taiso, the Japanese radio calisthenics or radio exercise, had a very strange history which rooted way back in 1928 during World War II. You could read more details from this Wikipedia page.
At present, Radio Taiso is still being practiced at schools and some Japanese companies to start the day with good energy and to promote good health. I was told that school kids could receive a reward at the end of the year if they could attend all the Radio Taisou throughout the school year.
